Staircase, First Floor

You are standing on the first floor looking at our staircase, which is absolutely one of the most impressive architectual features of the house.

The staircase leads from the first floor to the second floor.

When we first saw the house, you could not see the staircase. That's because the previous owners had built an illegal bathroom and placed it right in the middle of the staircase. The first weekend after we took posession, we had a friend stop by and demolish the bathroom's walls. Unfortunately, he accidentally broke a window as well. We replaced that window, but then another window broke. They're both tempered glass now.

This staircase is covered with lead paint. We've had it sealed with an encapsulant, but now that encapsulant is coming off. My lead inspector explained why: he said that the people who made it weren't named Benjamin and Moore.
