Simson L. Garfinkel works in the Office of the Chief Information Officer at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He is also a part-time faculty member at George Washington University in Washington DC, a guest researcher at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and an affiliate of Georgetown University. He serves on the Association for Computing Machinery's U.S. Technology and Policy Committee, and on the ACM's Ethics and Plagiarism Committee. His current research interests include privacy in data science ethics, cybersecurity, privacy, usability, digital forensics, personal information management, counter-intelligence and counter-terrorism.  ([[Bio|Read full bio.]])
