Really some good content, but this last paragraph from Sultan Meghji at the Carnegie Endowment really got me...

Sultan Meghji: "I have to say, I just get so frustrated, because we have an exact blueprint for how to move our national security discussion forward by partnerships between the academic sector, and the public sector, and the private sector. It's what we did from the 1940s all the way through the later half of the 20th century and it established an incredible power base for the United States that led to the Internet as we know it and all of the technologies that we've been talking about on this call. And it frustrates me to the n-th degree that we don't view it as a fundamental strategic power that we have, that we can extend and do more with. Instead of having a bunch of—forgive me for saying it so aggressively—a bunch of 80 year olds who have no idea how to change the ring tone on their iPhone thinking about 'how do I get through the next 3 years so I can die quietly?' I'm just really tired of us not thinking about this century, instead of thinking about what gets me to the next election, or what gets me through whatever this next new cycle is. Because things like AI, things like Cyber, things like Financial Services, this is how we won the last century. Why aren't we just double-clicking on that and making sure we are investing more in it? It just utterly drives me crazy. Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now. It's just my daily life and it's really driving me crazy."
