Double-click the TopDraw icon, and up comes an incredibly sophisticated drawing and illustration package.  FrameMaker remains active, of course--you're simply multitasking.
Scan in a photo.  The NeXT Computer makes it easy to connect the most popular scanners--including the HSD Scan-X1600, which gives you resolution from 400 dpi (a perfect match for the NeXT 400 dpi LaserPrinter) to 1600 dpi.

For advanced illustration and photo retouching there's Artisan.  It let's you scan art directly into the application.  With Artisan's tools, you can sharpen, blur, scale, rotate and control the opacity of images.  You can even go wild retouching, making use of a retouch brush, pencil, charcoal or adjustable airbrush.

You can bring images into TopDraw and Artisan or save them in many formats--including TIFF and Encapsulated PostScript--so trading images with other computers is easy.  And don't worry about storage.  Even though graphics files can get big fast, a single optical disk gives you 256 megabytes to stretch out in.

There are many more ways to bring artwork into your document.  You can receive it from associates by NeXTMail, copy it from a customized Digital Library or copy it from files of clip art, such as T/Maker's EPS ClickArt.
Using TopDraw's tools, you can process existing images (crop, rotate, scale, skew, adjust brightness and contrast) and create perfect line art from scratch--using shapes, patterns and Bezier curves.
Remember that FrameMaker document you were working on before?  One click in the upper left corner reduces it to this--a convenient way to put something aside for the moment in the NeXT Workspace.  Now that you're finished in TopDraw, just double-click this icon and the FrameMaker layout instantly reappears, with all of its tools and menus exactly where you left them.
