Franciscan will use Trego's custom CaseServ application to monitor managed-care contract information and eligibility lists, and to access decision-support capabilities.
According to Trego President Ellen Williams, the system also manages capitation plans, which are new to the industry: They pay hospitals a set amount to provide health care to a large group of plan members. If a patient needs a procedure not performed at the hospital, a subcontractor is then chosen to provide that procedure for an agreed-upon fee.
