Kodak's Photo CD technology comes to the NeXT from Servare Business Systems, which is shipping a multisession, Photo CD-compatible CD-ROM drive. The $649 drive, developed by MicroNet Technology, is bundled with a cable and software for reading Photo CD images. For the NeXT, Servare is also shipping 32MB, 70-ns SIMMS for $2495. Pinnacle Research has rolled out three new programs for NeXTSTEP, including Page-Chain 1.0, a $129 multidocument print and fax utility; VWall, networkwide messaging software for system administrators priced at $250 for a five-machine license; and Virt-Space, Version 3.0 of Cheapskate Software's virtual window manager. MIDIapolis Systems has purchased and updated Calendoscope from Stained Glass Soft-ware, renaming it DayTripper. The personal and group scheduler sells for $129. BenaTong in January announced TymeSync, a $49.95 utility to help maintain clock accuracy on NeXT systems. TymeSync regularly calls on-line modems at either the National Institute of Standards and Technology or the U.S. Naval Observatory and "jumps" or slowly adjusts your system clock. Well-Tempered Productions is Bach with a new CD. For 21st Century Bach, composer Kathy Geisler generated all voices and instruments on a NeXT computer, without benefit of an external synthesizer, using the Music Kit and custom software developed by David Jaffe, one of the Kit's principal authors. Athena Design is giving out a free 25-user license for its Mesa spreadsheet to any educational institution that has NeXTSTEP computers on its network for student use. Inquires should be made to dpp@athena.com. Athena has also placed Culture Shock, its $24.95 tile game, into the public domain. A copy of the program is available by anonymous ftp to athena.com.

Chris Cuilla joined Chicago-based IT Solutions in December as a software engineer, bring- ing with him CuillaMartin's DefaultManager and Calculator Set. IT Solutions will now provide technical support for CuillaMartin products. Correction: The description of the NumberedExtensionManager in the December NeXT-WORLD Extra is inaccurate. It does not have any file-searching capabilities, nor does it let you assign numbers to directories. Instead, give the NEM object the name of the directory to which you are saving, and it returns a number that hasn't been used in any of the filenames in that directory.
