Datrix Corporation is shipping beta releases of two of the modules in its Datrix5 Accounting software for NeXTSTEP 3.0: General Ledger and Accounts Receivable, priced at $695 each. CuillaMartin has licensed the code for DefaultManager, a utility designed for programmers and network administrators to investigate and modify the NeXTSTEP default data-base. The company planned to release in mid-January Default-Manager 2.9, an interim single-user release for NeXT-STEP 3.0. NeXT has gotten the attention of the U.S. House of Representatives. In November, the company was the first UNIX workstation vendor added to the House's subcommittee schedule, which means NeXT will be able to sell its hardware and software to the various subcommittees. In other news from the capital, the Defense Information Systems Agency awarded a contract to Digicon, which will be providing the agency with $2.4 million worth of NeXT computers and custom software.
Systemhouse, a $700-million-per-year consulting firm that specializes in client-server technology, is now supporting NeXT. The New YorkÐbased company has already put together a NeXT team and has begun hiring NeXT engineers for its 30 offi-ces around the world. Monotype Typography has shipped an upgrade to its CD-ROM font disc that supports NeXT workstations. The Monotype FoneFonts CD, version 92.11, includes 1840 PostScript fonts from Monotype and Adobe, as well as Monotype TrueType fonts. StatSci, also known as Statistical Sciences of Seattle, planned to release in early February Version 3.1 of S-Plus, its extensible, interactive language and software application for graphical data analysis, statistics, and mathematical computing. It runs on NeXT systems under X11R5; a version that works with NeXTSTEP is in development.
