It's Official: Sanjay Sarma joins OAT as it's CTO

Sanjay Sarma, founder of the MIT Auto-ID Center and apparently RFID's "Founding Father" (others might disagree with this title), has joined OATSystems as the company's Chief Technology Officer

There's no word in the press release regarding what this means for Sanjay's position at MIT, where he was recently awarded tenure...

NEC to join EPC Global

According to this article in ZDNet/UK, NEC will be joining EPCglobal, the international-standards-body-and-trade-group that is putting together the various EPC standards.

Meanwhile, HP has started a program to help customers integrate RFID with their business systems, and Microsoft has established an RFID council.

IBM hits back at RFID critics

According to ZDNet Australia, A leading IBM executive has described critics of radio-frequency identification technologies as confused and described their push against the technology as masking an "anti-retail" thrust.
